A Brief History of Leigh Park Working Men's Club

Since the 16th of July 1971, when the club first opened, it has been the heart of the community in the Leigh Park Area. It provides social entertainment events, sporting events, and numerous other activities for its members and their families. Current membership is 1500 plus members, and the club is affiliated with the C.I.U. From humble beginnings of a single room, it has over the years been expanded and developed and now is the largest Working Menā€™s and Social club in the Southern Area. It now has a general room, large concert hall, a snooker room, catering facilities, and an additional function room complete with a landscaped garden that can accommodate up to 200 members.

The hub of the club is its general room and bar that also has multifaceted facilities to provide entertainment, darts, and the screening of large sporting occasions on a large screen and supplemented by five other TV screens within the area. The newly constructed garden area was opened in May 2024, complete with a stage and was built by club members. It will become an asset to the club in future years.

The club facilities and function rooms have now become an attractive and popular venue for its members to hire and hold private parties and events, including weddings. It currently partners with Greene King for the supply of its drink products and offers an extensive range of beers, spirits, and wines at extremely competitive prices to its members. The club employs a total of eighteen staff and has a management committee of twelve members running the club.
